Mission
The Nebraska Wheat Growers Association’s goal is to improve and stabilize the profitability of the Nebraska wheat producer. To achieve this goal, the NWGA specializes in state affairs, international policy, disaster relief programs, research, environmental policy, and domestic policy.Organization
The NWGA is governed by a five-member Executive Board consisting of four officers and an executive director. The board’s role is to develop policy, direct the organization, and—most importantly—know and represent the interests of Nebraska wheat growers.The NWGA is part of the National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG). This organization works to advance the wheat industry at state and national levels. NAWG is in daily communication with state associations as well as members of Congress, the USDA, and other government agencies.

Newswheat is a quarterly publication by and for the Nebraska Wheat Growers Association members. The publication is printed in March, June, September and December.

NWGA Executive Board of Directors
Dayton Christensen
Big Springs, NE
Dayton was elected to the Nebraska Wheat Growers Association Executive Board in December 2009. He serves NWGA as Chair of the Environment and Renewable Resources Committee.
Dayton farms with his wife Jodi and son Cameron in Deuel County. They raise wheat and some millet and also do some custom wheat and millet harvesting. He has served on the Deuel-Garden county FSA county committee as Chairman and board member for three terms and also on the Deuel County Zoning board since 1999. Dayton and his family are active members of Zion Lutheran church in Big Springs. Son Cameron is a Senior at South Platte High School and will be attending UNL to study Agri-business with plans to return to the family farm.
Mark Daum
Dix, NE
Mark was elected to the Nebraska Wheat Growers Association Executive Board in December 2010. He serves NWGA as Chair of the Domestic Policy Committee.
Mark is involved in a family farm operation in the southern Nebraska panhandle near Dix. They raise wheat and corn on both dryland and irrigated ground. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 1980-84 where he played for the Cornhusker Football Team. After college he returned to the family farm in 1986. Mark's family consists of wife Judy and sons Colton and Jake.
Shawn Sullivan
Wallace, NE
Shawn was elected to the Nebraska Wheat Growers Association's Executive Board in December 2007. He is following a tradition set by his father, Mike, and grandfather, John, who both served on the Executive Board of the Nebraska Wheat Growers. Shawn was elected President in December 2009. He represents NWGA on the National Association of Wheat Growers board and the Environmental and Renewable Resources Committee.
Shawn graduated from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture with a degree in agri-business and crop production and returned to the family farm. He farms alongside his parents, grandparents, and uncle south of Wallace. The operation consists of wheat, corn, soybeans, and pasture. To complement the farming operation, the family owns and operates a private fertilizer and chemical business.
Shawn and his wife Kim have two sons.
Michael Thomas, Jr.
Ogallala, NE
Michael was elected to the Nebraska Wheat Growers Association Executive Board in December 2009. He serves NWGA as Chair of the Biotechnology and Research Committee.
Michael is a third generation Nebraska wheat farmer. He lives in Ogallala and farms with his family in Keith, Perkins and Deuel counties. In addition to wheat, he also produces corn and dry edible beans. He is a graduate of the Nebraska LEAD program. When not farming. Michael enjoys hunting and fishing, gardening, Husker football and travel.
